The Riddet Institute, a Centre of Research Excellence, brings together leading academics from Massey University, The University of Auckland, University of Otago, Plant and Food Research and AgResearch and has well-established international connections and partnerships. The Institute focuses on research and education at the nexus of food science, biomaterials and human nutrition. Applications are invited for a Research Officer position in the Riddet Institute, Palmerston North. We seek a Research Officer with experience in human nutrition, particularly in the areas of protein and dietary fibre, including the use of in vivo (animal) and in vitro digestion models. You will join an experienced and innovative team drawn from the Institute's partner organisations. You will be responsible for initiating and running research projects within the Institute.
1. Undertake an active, appropriate and viable personal research programme or participate in team-based research.2. Lead research teams and contribute to the administration of research projects.
3. Publish papers or other scholarly works in academic journals and review papers and the like.
4. Present research and act as a discussant at academic conferences.
5. Prepare and submit research proposals and generate funding.
6. Involved in the supervision of Postgraduate students.
Relevant PhD qualification and demonstrated teaching and research expertise.
Experience in human nutrition, particularly in the areas of protein and dietary fibre, including the use of in vivo (animal) and in vitro digestion models.

The AgResearch Food Assurance Team has a vacancy for a research assistant/associate in the area of food microbiology. This position will assist in programmes related to isolation and typing of micro- organisms from the environment, food animals and foods by traditional & molecular methods, microbial survival and behaviour along food production and distribution chains. This capability is important for AgR and forms part of an exciting platform for delivering solutions to NZ's food processing industries.
Applicants should have substantial experience in food microbiology and be technically competent in handling bacterial pathogens as well as developing and validating bacterial culture methods and molecular techniques. We are looking for individuals who are good communicators, self-motivated and organised.
